WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO A JOB INTERVIEW?
Apart from the stress of job interviews, another stressful thing related to job interview is what to wear. Interviews are all about showing the best of you. What you wear to an interview is a very important part of the whole interview thing. When you show up to an interview in professional attire, it will clearly show that you have put in efforts and you understand the culture of the organization. Dressing based upon the interview and position can also project you as a confident candidate, one worthy of the position. Therefore, there are various styles, or attires, for the interviewee and that depends on the type of organization you are interviewing with.
BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL INTERVIEW ATTIRE
The first impression that you can make on an employer is the most important one. The first judgment that an employer is going to make is how you look, and in particular, what you are wearing. Because of that, this is the reason why what you wear to a job interview is so important. In general, business and professional attire is the most common and recommended. For men, that means wearing a suit jacket with shirt and tie would be the ideal attire. For women, wearing a blouse with formal pants is preferred. You can incorporate some modern trends of styling if you want, however, try to avoid flashy colors. Instead, try and to stick to black and white.
CASUAL BUSINESS AND NON-PROFESSIONAL ATTIRE
If you are going to an interview in an informal work environment, then casual business attire is the best choice. Business casual is considered much less formal when compared to professional attire. But, you also need to be polished. For example, you can wear a t-shirt and shorts, however, make sure that business casual attire is acceptable in the organization where you are going in for the interview. If possible, try to dress a bit more professional than any average employee of the company. If everyone out there is wearing t-shirts and shorts, you can try out khakis with polo t-shirt.
CASUAL INTERVIEW ATTIRE
In case you are going in for an interview at a startup company, you can mix the entire head-to-toe attire. Rather than just showing up wearing suit and pants, you can opt for a relaxed attire. But, that also needs to presentable. You can try wearing relaxed khakis or dark-washed jeans with a nice formal shirt. For women, you can wear a polo t-shirt with relaxed or tight fitted jeans.
